Happy New
Year! Greeting from Taiwan. Year 2012 had finished and year 2013 is going to
start. Wish you all the best in the coming year.
My year 2012
was a fruit full year. In 2012 I was kind of stop writing about my life. Of
course there was something happened but I guess the biggest reason was because
my new role, the secretary general in the EQ office. With this new role, it
took most of my time working in the office and my brain thinking + planning
different activities.
The Secretary
General in EQ Office (whole year)
My life
changed after taking this role. The biggest change I guess was that I can’t run
around freely. I have an office need to take care so most of the time I need to
base at Taiwan, Tainan. One of the challenges I was facing was to work with
different people with different personalities. EQ office is a place trying to
give Love to whoever came. But still were the human being worked in the office
and we had limit. Because of this role it really gave me training in how to communicate
with people, especially how to talk to people on an uncomfortable topic. Another
difference I found in my life was I can’t live at present. Most of the time I
was planned the future activities. But also because of this role I learnt how
to deal with different situations, how to see thing in a whole picture, as well
as met many interesting life. At the moment I survived a year and hopefully can
survive the come year as well.
Senior high
school volunteers group keeps going (whole year)
The
senior high school volunteers group continued. At the moment I have 17senior
high school students in the team. The kids’ camp also continued two times a
year for the primary school kids. Since last September I had another university
volunteers group. They are going to take the junior high school students camp. And
I was also helping to run the adult volunteers group in EQ office. So in total I
am running three volunteers groups at the same time. That made my life busier.
Holiday in
Caux (July)
Last year I
had 9 young people applied for Caux intern program and at the end only one can
go. But I promised them if one of them were going then I will go as well. So I
went to Caux for 2 weeks and gave myself a nice holiday there. Catching up with
old friends, reading books, accompany my student, eating and sleeping most of
the time, I enjoyed a lot.
APYC in Japan (August)
Last
year I went to Japan to help with the Asia Pacific Youth Conference (APYC). It
had been some time I didn’t attend APYC. This time I was in the core planning
team working with the international team + Japanese team. I experienced a nice
team work especially with my brother taking on family workshop and with Cheng
from Malaysia, Siddharth and Rhea from India on morning quiet time. I enjoyed seeing
the participants searching their life, trying to understand who they are. And
through deep understanding change can happen naturally.
Sharing
with students in school
After
coming back from APYC I wrote a sharing letter, I shared them with my friends,
and some of my parents’ friends. And there were two universities professors
wrote me back and said they were touch by my sharing and whether I can go to
their class to share with their students about what I am doing and my life. So I
went to Kaohsiung National Sun Yat-Sen university sharing with the Political
and Economic Department’s students about my experience, especially how to make
friends with different culture people and my value in life. Another uni I went
was the best uni in Taiwan, the Taiwan National University. Also sharing what I
am doing and how I become to the person I am. And I also had a chance enter a
senior high school to lead a 14 hours leadership training workshop.
First time
being bridesmaid (November)
My
first bridesmaid experience was for my senior high school roommate. I was happy
to accompany her to get married. It was a wonderful feeling to know we been
knowing each other for more than 10 years. From teenager to growing up, from
single to she found her life partner. But wearing in a nice dress with the high
heel shoes really made me suffer. Especially I was wearing the high heel claim
up and down the stairs.
Malaysia Seed
Initiatives Youth Program (December)
This was my
third time went to help with the youth program. It was tiring but I enjoy mix
in with the young people. This year we had 40 participants from age 15 to age
64. This time I was helping morning Quiet Time and in the afternoon I did a
body workshop, getting to know how to get alone with our emotion. Another help I
was doing was taking care for the small group leaders. Most of them were the
first time leading a small group. Many interesting and touching stories
happened during these eight days and seven nights.
For the countdown
I went to an island near the south part of Taiwan, Xiao liu qiu with my dance
group senior and junior. It was cold on the last day but the first day of 2013
the weather was so nice. And we went up early to see the sunrise. So I had a
nice New Year countdown. Hope you also had a nice one.
Best wishes
